Grace, Strength, and Sunshine:
Teaching Fitness in the Cayman Islands. Moving temporarily to the Cayman Islands to teach Pilates and barre has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life. The moment I stepped off the plane and felt the warm, salty breeze, I knew I was somewhere special.
Life here has its own unique rhythm—slower, softer, yet filled with vibrant energy. Teaching in this tropical paradise feels different. Each class comes with views of the harbor and port, where cruise ships and freighters are constantly loading and unloading. It’s a reminder of how connected this little island is to the rest of the world.
My students come from all over—expats, locals, and travellers—but there’s a shared sense of connection that feels like family.
Of course, it hasn’t all been seamless. Adjusting to island life means mastering the art of navigating roundabouts (they’re everywhere!) and staying mindful of tropical rain showers and thunderstorms that can roll in without warning. And yes—life in the Caymans is more expensive. But the trade-off? Golden sunsets over the bluest water you’ve ever seen, peaceful morning walks on soft white sand, and a community where “good morning” and “good evening” are said with genuine warmth.
There’s also something magical about blending mindful movement with this environment. Pilates flows that strengthen and lengthen the body feel even more powerful when paired with the calm of the ocean breeze. Barre classes, set against the backdrop of the vibrant blue harbor waters, bring a whole new level of energy and grace.
This lifestyle isn’t just about teaching—it’s about living well. Slowing down. Finding balance. Feeling the sun on your skin and remembering what it feels like to breathe deeply and move intentionally.
If you’ve ever dreamed of combining your passion for fitness with a life by the sea, let me tell you: it’s worth every adjustment and every moment of awe.
